What seems to be the problem?
Over time, dust balls build up inside the console, which worsen the airflow, making it harder for hot air to be expelled and cool air to be drawn in.

Neither officially nor unofficially. Only warranty replacements of defective consoles are performed – no maintenance or cleaning. And that is practically mandatory after 1 to 2 years of use.

Most often we see the need for cleaning and servicing of the liquid metal in consoles that have been used actively for at least 1 year, as well as in those that are kept standing vertically instead of lying horizontally.
Three short “beep” sounds and the console shuts down by itself, with an overheating message on the screen. There are three main reasons. Let us walk you through each of them.
This is one of the most common reasons for poor cooling in the PS5, because the liquid metal that is supposed to cool the console’s processor and graphics chips literally “flows down” to the bottom of the so‑called APU, leaving a huge section (often 30–50%) of the entire chip with minimal or no cooling at all.
No matter how clean your home is, your PlayStation 5 is “breathing” the whole time it’s on. The large fan pulls in cool air from outside and at the same time pushes hot air out from inside.
Over time, the dust particles in that same air build up deposits on the fan blades and clog the fins of the cooling elements inside the console. To clean this type of dust properly, the console needs to be fully opened – it can’t be solved with a hair dryer or a vacuum cleaner.
The APU is the section of your PS5 motherboard where the brain of the console is located – processor, graphics card, RAM – everything. They’re all under one roof, and their cooling is handled by a thin layer of liquid metal applied to the metal shield that covers them.
Over time, the chemical reactions from heating and cooling between these two layers lead to a thin layer of oxidation on the APU module shield. This oxidation layer acts as an insulator and significantly hinders the cooling performance of the liquid metal. We often see operating temperatures increase by 20 to 40%.
Our experience doesn’t come from internet videos, but from the fact that we play ourselves. We know what you’re looking for and what you need – and we also know what works. Over 900 hours of Warzone on Steam and at least as many on PS5.
When you play against the best in the world, even small drawbacks start to get in the way. That’s why you can’t afford a console that doesn’t perform at a guaranteed level every single time.
We don’t just play shooters – we’ve put our consoles through hundreds of hours in games like Gran Turismo, FIFA, Assassin’s Creed, NBA2K, Overwatch, GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, Diablo III, Civilization VI, Hitman, The Last of Us, God of War and many more.
The most common signs are loud fan noise, significant heating while gaming, or the console shutting down automatically. We recommend cleaning every 12–18 months with regular use.
Standard cleaning costs 40 EUR. The full package, which includes replacing the CPU liquid metal, is priced at 60 EUR. We recommend the full package for consoles that are close to or over 2 years of use, as well as when there are visible signs of overheating.
PlayStation 5 cleaning is done within the same business day. We accept consoles in person at 80 G. S. Rakovski St., Sofia, as well as by courier. We work every day of the week!
When done properly – always. Disassembling a PS5 does not damage the console if the procedure is followed correctly. The risk comes only from inexperienced technicians or lack of proper tools, not from the cleaning itself.
Surface cleaning of the ventilation openings is perfectly possible with compressed air, but this is far from enough and rarely removes more than 20% of the dust.
Proper console cleaning involves fully disassembling it and cleaning each individual component separately – starting from the fan, through the metal heatsink, power supply and the entire interior of the console.
Full internal cleaning with liquid metal replacement requires not only complete disassembly of the console, but also specialized tools and experience working with liquid metal – a material that is electrically conductive and must be applied with precision.
Sony recommends replacing the liquid metal every 2–3 years with regular use. For consoles that run several hours a day, the interval may be shorter. Dried‑out liquid metal is one of the main causes of overheating in older PS5 models.
In almost all cases, yes. If the overheating is caused by accumulated dust or dried liquid metal, cleaning will solve the problem. In rarer cases, the overheating may be related to a hardware issue, which will be identified during subsequent diagnostics.
